After undergoing fairly extensive remodeling not too long ago, the Dakota Connection Casino is the only licensed and regulated gaming facility in the quiet town of Sisseton. Proudly owned and operated by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate, the games room holds over 190 varied slot machines and there are a variety of bingo games held every week. Whether you’re an avid gamer keen to test the facilities or just passing through for a short visit, our Dakota Connection Casino review will give you a thorough insight into the venue.

Then, we’ll review the promotions, loyalty benefits, nearby attractions, general company info, and lots more. What to Expect at the Dakota Connection Casino

As mentioned above, the Dakota Connection Casino is proudly owned by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate people. As such, there are plenty of cultural attractions nearby which include important natural landmarks, historical sites, and plenty more. If you’d like to learn more about these kinds of events in Sisseton, skip forward to the events section – or any other section that interests you – using the content navigation tool above.

The Dakota Connection Casino Games Offering

The Dakota Connection Casino games selection features a varied range of over 190 slot machines. Inside the games room you’ll find classic vegas style slots with the standard three-reel layout, modern video slots with memorable themes, and some electronic versions of live table games such as video poker. All the gamers out there who love to spin the reels may also be pleased to learn the games room is open 24/7 at the weekend!

In addition to the slots, the Dakota Connection Casino games list also includes bingo! Starting from 5:30pm everyday, there are a great range of games with low and high priced buy ins, so players of all budgets are catered for. With regular high-priced jackpots in excess of $6000, there’s plenty to play for here at the Dakota Connection. For a full overview of all the different types of games you can find here, refer to list element shown below.

Although we really like the selection of slots and the variation of bingo games available here, it’s fair to say the Dakota Connection Casino games offering is somewhat lacking. Without a Class III license, it’s unable to provide live table games, so card sharks are at a clear disadvantage. If this is your hang up, we’d recommend the Dakota Sioux Casino and Hotel. It’s owned by the same group and has a great selection of live table games.

No Online Games at Present

The state of South Dakota (S.D) has some of the strictest rulings in the nation when it comes to online betting. Simply put, it’s prohibited, so you won’t find any services of this kind at the Dakota Connection just yet. However, the state legislature is currently reconsidering its policy on online gaming, which means we may see a breakthrough here in the future. As such, make sure you check back regularly for updates and keep a close eye on reports in the news.

Bingo Promotions at the Dakota Connection

A present containing promotions.

Most of the Dakota Connection Casino promotions apply to bingo, which is great if you’re a fan of the numbers game! Daily bingo specials include double pay deals, half price full pay specials, and bonus number boosters, all of which appear interchangeably throughout the week. Pull up a chair, make some new friends, and take advantage of the offers!

Aside from this, it’s fair to say there aren’t many more regular promotions up for grabs. The Dakota Sioux Casino and Hotel does have a few more, but it’s a bit of a drive away. If you’re wanting to stay in the area, the best way to get full access to the promotions range is by signing up to the loyalty scheme known as the Players Club. We’ll take a closer look at this in the following section.

Some Good Loyalty Benefits

VIP written in big letters.

As mentioned above, the loyalty scheme at the Dakota Connection Casino is known as the Players Club. One of the main advantages of being a member is that you get access to the promotions range. Included in this are prize giveaways and lots of chances to $100s of dollars worth of free slot plays. Other benefits include birthday rewards, entry into special prize draws and more.

No Sports Betting at this Time

Back when horse racing and greyhound racing were permitted in South Dakota, wagering on said events – as well as other sports – was pretty common. It has, however, been outlawed for quite some time. Yet, amid increasing competition from neighbouring states and continuing revenue shortages in S.D, there are signs that both houses in the state legislature may be ready to approve a sports betting amendment. With talks set to continue in 2020, it’s not unlikely that there may be a breakthrough here, so keep checking back for updates as the Dakota Connection may be among the first to introduce sports betting services in the future.

A Break From the Games Room

While it’s true that untold amounts of fun can be had in the games room of any given casino – believe us, we know – it’s also nice to have the option to explore some non gambling related attractions. While on-site activities of this kind are limited, there are some interesting things to explore in the town of Sisseton. Keep scrolling down to discover what you’ll find outside of the Dakota Connection games room.

No On-Site Accommodation

One thing the Dakota Connection is missing, which would really elevate its status, is on-site accommodation. Fortunately, however, there are a few options – many of which are great for gamers travelling on a budget – in the area. Super 8 – a nationwide hotel chain – is a popular choice for visitors and offers simple, affordable digs. There’s also an RV park not too far away and a few campsites for lovers of the great outdoors.

Although it’s a bit of a drive away, the Dakota Sioux Casino and Hotel is another gaming complex owned and operated by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate. If you’re passing through the Watertown area, it’s well worth a visit. It’s a much larger, more equipped gaming destination that has on-site lodging and many more facilities.

Limited On-Site Attractions

A similar story to the lack of on-site lodging, the Dakota Connection Casino events offering is limited. It doesn’t currently feature any non gambling related attractions or events; however, as we’ve previously mentioned, the town of Sisseston does have a handful of attractions, particularly if you like exploring nature. There are historic sites, natural landmarks, breathtaking hiking/walking trails to explore, and lots of hunting and fishing. The Crossroads Restaurant, which is located on-site, has a varied menu complete with classic favourites and authentic Native American specialties.

The Dakota Connection Casino first opened back in 1995. Its primary goal was – and still remains – to stimulate economic development on the nearby Lake Traverse Reservation and create meaningful avenues to bring about self-sufficiency for the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate people. Along with the Dakota Magic Casino Resort and the Dakota Sioux Casino and Hotel, it is one of three gaming complexes owned by the group.

After undergoing considerable remodelling not too long ago, it reopened and unveiled its impressive new facilities, which includes a games floor packed with almost 200 slot machines. Its class II license means there aren’t any live table games available here, but visitors can enjoy a 24 hour service at the weekends and take part in daily bingo events. In the table above, follow the link to the official Facebook page and stay up to date with goings on.

A Limited But Enjoyable Gaming Complex

The Dakota Connection Casino & Bingo logo.

Now that we’ve come to the conclusion of our Dakota Connection Casino review, it’s time for the final word. While it does have some key talking points – namely the slots collection and the bingo games offering – it’s fair to say the venue is pretty limited otherwise. Part of this is due to its remote location; there isn’t much in the way of local attractions or big, show-stopping events. However, we’d like to see a few more promotions introduced in the future – we also feel as though some on-site lodging wouldn’t go amiss! All in all, though, there are some good gaming facilities here. Head back to the homepage for more casino reviews.
